If you’re looking to boost traffic to your job ads and you’re not taking advantage of Google For Jobs, you could be missing out on a huge pool of candidates.
Over 70% of job seekers start their search on Google, so your job ads need to be showing up in the right place. That’s where GFJ can help.
It’s a powerful search engine feature that pulls job listings directly from your agency website, or careers microsite, and displays them in Google’s search results, often on the very first page. This means your job ads could appear front and centre to candidates actively searching for roles like yours.
…and did we mention, it’s completely free?
Google For Jobs isn’t just another job board. It’s a free and easy feature that should be a key component in your recruitment marketing or talent attraction strategy. It’s a low-input, high-impact benefit that can help you attract the best talent for your vacancies, boost applications, and create a better experience for your candidates.
Getting started with Google For Jobs
To make the most of GFJ you’ll need to make sure your job ads are able to be found and indexed by Google and that each of your job ads has its own URL on your website. This will help GFJ crawl each vacancy separately and place them in front of the best-matched candidate.
Connect your website to Google For Jobs
Once your job ads are live on your website, you’ll need to make sure GFJ can see them. To do this, you’ll need to add a snippet of code to your website that helps Google understand what each page is about. You can do this manually in the backend of your website, or you can use a job manager/posting plugin which will do this for you automatically.
Ensure your job ads meet the criteria
To make sure your listings are visible, and to rank above the competition, you’ll need to include all of the following information in each of your job ads:
- A clear job title
- A full description
- Salary
- Location
- The posting date and expiry date
Monitor Google For Jobs in Search Console
Once you’ve completed the steps above, GFJ should be able to pick up your job ads and list them. To monitor its progress, head to Google Search Console and open up the ‘Enhancements’ drop-down menu in the navigation panel on the left. You can then head into Job Postings to check for any errors, see how many are currently ranking, and how many clicks each ad receives.
GFJ can be a game-changer for recruitment agencies and talent teams. It’s free, easy-to-use, and places your job ads exactly where candidates are already looking. Getting started is well worth the effort, and not utilising it could mean missing out on a valuable pool of candidates.
